LAURA COOPER

Occupational Therapist

Laura Cooper obtained a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto. She is a Registered Occupational Therapist with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario in good standing, and a member of the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists. Laura has been in practice primarily in the field of children with special needs and pediatric development for over 11 years. She began her occupational therapy career in a predominantly school-based setting, and shortly after joined the Sunnybrook Neonatal Follow Up developmental assessment team. Her current practice includes offering occupational therapy services in the community, providing in-home and in-school assessment, support, and intervention for infants, children, adolescents, and their families. ​Laura also conducts assessments and determines needs for assistive devices and home modifications, Home-Based Functional Assessments and Attendant Care Assessments, implements Functional Restoration and Remediation Programs, and provides ongoing treatment and monitoring for clients who have sustained musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, psycho-emotional, neurological and/or cognitive injuries, as a result of a motor or other accident. ​In addition, Laura holds a status appointment as Lecturer with the University of Toronto’s Department of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science. She is a registered Assistive Devices Program (ADP) Authorizer for seating and mobility devices, orthotic devices, and communication aids. She participates in workshops and conferences on a regular basis to ensure her knowledge base is continually upgraded.
